Josey's Art School Ignites the JOY of Creativity in Kids

About Me

My background

Robin  Norgren, M.A.Th, is a Montessori teacher living in Apache Junction,  Arizona.  She earned her Undergraduate degree in Management from Arizona  State  University and her Masters Degree in Theology from Fuller  Theological  Seminary.  She has completed her AMS Montessori Primary  Certification  and is in the process of completing her AMI Montessori  Primary  Certification.  Her recent accolades include helping to develop  a  Montessori based preschool that serves as a integration program for   students with Autism.  She also taught Montessori Kindergarten and  developed a curriculum that combined Montessori practices with Common  Core Standards.

Josey's  Art School was started as a passion project because Robin saw that art  education  was diminishing in the elementary school curriculum.  She has  created  and developed over 300 art lessons and has taught in classrooms,   community centers and after school programs all over Arizona and   Virginia.

Josey's art school offers many types of creativity programs for kids and adults.  We bring all equipment and supplies to you.

Bright Child Montessori  creates  lesson plans to guide the Montessori Teacher through the army of albums  prepared through the traditional AMS Montessori Certification process.

Bright Child Studio  provides kids with the opportunity to experience the joy found in participating in musical theatre.  We provide a fun atmosphere and versatile class options that will allow your Bright Child to SHINE

How I got started

Hi there! My name is Robin Norgren and I am the Creator of Josey's Art School.  Inspired by Mary Poppins and the movie Saving Mr. Banks, I wanted to take the sadness of my childhood and create something beautiful.

At the time, I had a 9 year old daughter named Josey who is incredibly creative like most  children are.  I also have an adult son who is just as creative.  But  for some reason I did not seem to tap into my creative connection until  the birth of my second child.  For some reason I felt completely  disconnected from the way in which children could play in paint and see  the world in vibrant colors.

I  was on a mission in 2008 to find out if I had a creative voice.  I  began to crochet - a childhood hobby - and moved into mixed media art  and art journaling by 2012.  I found my creative voice and began to  write and teach adults through books and workshops in 2013.

In  2014 Josey and I were talking one day about art classes and how much  fun she has when we get together to have art parties with her friends.   And then we began to discuss "what if...."

Josey's Art School is the result of that conversation.
